Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Fairway Log collects, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
The short version
- We collect only what Fairway Log needs to run your account and your golf log: your email, password, display name, and what you log.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
- Your location stays on your phone. We never receive it.
- Profiles are public by default, and public means anyone can see them. You can make yours private.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
Who we are
Fairway Log is an iPhone app for golfers to collect, track and rate the golf courses they play. Fairway Log is operated by Skyler Contardi, Texas, USA.
In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Fairway Log, and “you” means you, the golfer. Questions about your privacy: support@fairwaylog.app.
When you create an account
- Your email address. You sign in with it, and we use it to send you codes: one to confirm your email when you sign up, and one when you reset your password.
- Your password. Our login provider, Supabase, stores it in scrambled (hashed) form. We can’t see it.
- Your display name. It’s the name on your profile. There’s no way to change it in the app. To use a different name, delete your account and sign up again; your log won’t carry over.
- The date you joined.
What you add
- Rounds: the course and the date you played.
- Ratings: your score for each category, and for each sub-category if you use them, including any you mark as not applicable. Fairway Log works out each round’s overall score from them.
- Your wishlist: courses you want to play.
- Trophies: awarded automatically from your rounds and ratings.
- Course problem reports: the course, what’s wrong, and any note you write. Please don’t put personal information in a note.
- Aerated greens reports: the course, whether you saw the greens aerated or the club has scheduled a date, and the date.
- Your privacy setting: public or private.
Following other golfers isn’t in the app yet. When it is, we’ll update this policy.
What stays on your phone
- Your location. If you allow it, Fairway Log uses your location while the app is open, to sort courses by Nearest and to show where you are on the map. Distances are worked out on your phone. Your location is never sent to us or saved in our database, and Fairway Log never uses it in the background. You can turn it off at any time in iPhone Settings.
- Your login. So you stay signed in, your login is saved on your phone in encrypted form, with its key in the iPhone Keychain. Signing out removes it.
- Your sort choice for the Courses list (A-Z or Nearest).
- During a password reset, your email address and account number, so the reset can carry on if the app restarts. They’re cleared when the reset finishes, is cancelled or expires, or when you sign out.
- During sign-up, the password and display name you typed are held in the app’s memory until your email is confirmed. They’re never saved on your phone.
Deleting the app removes your saved login, your sort choice and any password reset in progress from your phone.
What we don’t collect
- No analytics or usage tracking.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health or payment information.
- No location in the background, and no location on our servers.
- We don’t add crash reporting to the app. If you’ve chosen in iPhone Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send us crash reports; that’s Apple’s setting, under Apple’s privacy policy.
How we use your information
- To create and run your account, sign you in, and send your sign-up and password reset codes.
- To show your log, ratings, wishlist and trophies.
- To work out each course’s community score, play count and number of ratings.
- To show aerated greens notices on courses, as a date and a count of golfers, never who.
- To review course problem reports and fix course details.
- To answer your emails.
- To keep Fairway Log secure and working.
We don’t use your information for advertising. We don’t sell it, and we don’t share it for advertising.
Who can see what
- Public profile (the default): anyone, including people without a Fairway Log account, can see your display name, the date you joined, your rounds (course and date), your ratings and scores, your wishlist and your trophies. The app doesn’t show other golfers’ profiles yet, but this information can be read by anyone through the same public connection the app uses, so treat it as public.
- Private profile: only you can see your profile, rounds, ratings, wishlist and trophies. Turn on “Private profile” under Privacy on your Profile.
- Either way, your ratings count toward each course’s community score, and your rounds toward its play count, shown without your name. Aerated greens reports appear only as a date and a count of golfers.
- Never public: your email address, and the course problem reports you file. Only you and we can see your reports.
Companies that help us run Fairway Log
Each one gets only what it needs to do its job.
- Supabase is our database and login provider. It stores your account and everything you log. Our project is hosted in the United States (US East, North Virginia). Supabase also keeps logs of sign-ins and requests, which can include your email address, IP address and device type.
- Resend sends the sign-up and password reset code emails. It receives your email address and the email it sends you, and keeps a log of sent emails.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and forwards emails sent to support@fairwaylog.app. It processes website visitors’ IP addresses and the emails it forwards, and keeps logs of both.
- Apple provides the map. Apple’s map service loads the map for the area you’re looking at, under Apple’s own privacy policy.
- Our email provider: emails you send to support@fairwaylog.app are forwarded to our email provider and kept there.
Your information is processed by our service providers, mainly in the United States.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your account and your log until you delete your account.
To delete your account in the app: open Profile, tap “Delete account” at the bottom, then “Delete my account”, then confirm. This can’t be undone.
Can’t sign in? Email support@fairwaylog.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We only act on a request from that address.
Erased right away
- Your login and its sessions.
- Your profile: display name, privacy setting and email address.
- Every round you logged and its ratings. They also come out of each course’s community score and play count.
- Your trophies.
- Your wishlist.
- Your follows, both who you follow and who follows you.
- Course problem reports you filed.
- Your aerated greens reports.
Kept until it expires
Some copies last longer, until they expire under our providers’ standard schedules:
- Supabase’s logs, including its login records, which can include your email address.
- Supabase’s database backups.
- Resend’s log of the code emails it sent you.
- Cloudflare’s logs of forwarded emails and website visits.
- Emails you sent to support, kept with our email provider.
We also keep any report another golfer filed about you, as a record for moderation. It isn’t linked to your account.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- See your information. Your Profile shows your rounds, ratings, wishlist and trophies. For a copy of everything we hold about you, email us from your account’s address.
- Correct your log. On a course’s page you can delete a round and log it again, edit your rating, remove the course from your wishlist, and remove your aerated greens report. To use a different display name, delete your account and sign up again.
- Choose who sees your log, with the “Private profile” switch on your Profile.
- Turn location on or off in iPhone Settings.
- Delete your account, in the app or by email, as described above.
There’s no charge for any of these.
Children
Fairway Log accounts are for people 13 and over. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email us.
Security
- Connections between the app, this website and our providers are encrypted (HTTPS).
- Your password is stored hashed by Supabase. We never see it.
- Your login on your phone is encrypted, with its key in the iPhone Keychain.
- Database access rules let you change only your own information, and keep private profiles and email addresses hidden.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
This website
fairwaylog.app has no cookies, no analytics and no scripts, and its fonts come from this site. Cloudflare hosts it and processes visitors’ IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect the site.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top. If a change affects how we use or share your information in a significant way, we’ll let you know by email before it takes effect.
